The life of a bum.

God I've got life easy. I just sit around all day mucking about with toy soldiers. Sure there are deadlines to meet every now and again but basically my life's my own. The wife's gone back to school (apparently being a nurse wasn't good enough, now she all about being a doc...) so money is a bit tight but so what, money ain't everything. I'm in a curiously good mood today. Odd.

This week (and for the next few weeks) I'm finishing up the new GB Picts. Cavalry and a chariot riding king are all that stands between me and my next project. I hate doing cavalry figures and I don't really know why. I think it's to do with never having got around to making a dolly I was completely happy with. That and the fact that by definition the figures have to interact with another miniature. Anyway, I've got some fun ideas for a mounted Magus but I've gotta be careful I don't fantasy him up too much. That's the worst thing about having little or no reference for a figure there is a tendency (for me at least) to go a bit crazy and end up with something that looks more Conan than history.

Horses. Hmmm, got some of them to be doing too. GB have always got a bad rap for their horses and that's something I'd like to change. Can't guarantee it'll happen but hope springs eternal. I'm pretty happy with the ponies but there was a lot more luck than judgement there so the horses continue to vex me.

Well, now that I've got that lot off my chest I think I'll have a spot of lunch and settle down with the latest Dan Abnett for an hour or so before I get back to work. You know, life's really not that bad all things considered.
