Designer points out 'huge problem' with ASOS's 'See My Fit' tool - claims she has answer - Mirror Online

Posted: 28 Jan 2020 02:00 AM PST

Multi-million pound fashion retailer ASOS has launched its new 'See My Fit' feature.

It allows customers to check out how dresses look on women who are the same size as them using augmented reality (AR).

And while a number of people are praising the fashion firm for the launch, one brand doesn't quite agree with it.

Sunny Bird, founder of Sunny Bird PR launched Perfect Dress Company online in December.

She says it's the first retailer in the UK to promote dresses that are "for real women, on real women, by real women."

While she supports the idea of women being able to get a better idea of what a dress will look like, she believes there are a few flaws with ASOS's approach.

She told Mirror Online: "As a multi-million dollar company, there are no excuses for them not already doing this.

Sunny Bird, founder of Perfect Dress Company says augmented reality could give women a false representation of themselves

"They are shooting dresses every day. Using AR is not a real reflection of how a dress fits, hangs, shapes and drapes on a body.

"The only way you can do this is by a real photo or video.

"At the Perfect Dress Company we feel it's important for you to see dresses on women that are like you so you can really see how our dresses will work for you."

And whilst she appreciates that AR is a great step in tackling underrepresentation, she says it isn't a solution.

She is concerned it could give women a false representation of themselves, leaving them feeling disappointed when the size they ordered doesn't fit like it does on the computerised model.

"I personally do shop at ASOS, I think the major pull for me is the variety they offer.

"However I can easily order up over 20 items and I am lucky if one of them fits me the way I thought it would.

Perfect dress Company founder Sunny says "there are no excuses for them not already doing this"

"Without a doubt this has upset me in the past and I know from our focus groups I am not the only women has suffered from this and felt this way.

"Like myself they have blamed their own bodies. Like it is their bodies' fault they do not fit in the clothes.

"I personally believe that fashion should be made to fit women not the other way around."

She highlighted the struggles that ASOS has admitted to having in the past with their online returns, where they've even blacklisted serial returners.

She said: "That's the main reason women are ordering a large quantity of dresses and returning them; because the dresses do not fit the way they thought they would.

"And why don't they fit? Because ASOS haven't advertised them on models that are representative of real women's bodies."

Sunny says the main reason women are sending back their ASOS dresses is because they're not representative of real women's bodies

But Sunny and her team are doing things differently.

She has spent two years researching what their female customers thought was missing from the fashion industry and found that 78 per cent of women said that ordering online and sizing were their major concerns.

Sunny explained: "Our audience told us they were fed up with seeing just the two sizes of women 'normal and plus' modelling clothes for fashion brands as this is only a small section of sizes that represent women out there.

"This is backed up by research of 98 per cent of women feeling 'ignored' and not represented by women they see in advertising, TV, runways and generally the fashion industry."

Perfect Dress Company hopes that their customers will be able to rely on their dresses for any occasion

She hopes that women will be able to find a style or fit they like, whether they're heading out on the school run or getting ready for work, and will be able to rely on it for any occasion.

Explaining her reason behind the innovative dual-sizing they have adopted, she said: "We understand that women can be curvier on top and smaller on the bottom or vice versa, and also that we can fluctuate between sizes at certain times of the month or within a matter of weeks."

The Perfect Dress Company dresses are in the following sizes: 6-8, 8-10, 10-12, 12-14, 14-16, 16-18, 18-20, 20-22.

Sunny understands that not everyone has the same shape, and therefore not one size fits all, but modelling clothing on women that show a real size representation is the way forward.

But until all online retailers can guarantee the finances and resources to successfully model all of their clothes on real women, using AR is a foot in the right direction.

ASOS is unable to comment.

NTAs 2020: Susanna Reid and Holly Willboughy lead glamour - Daily Mail

Posted: 28 Jan 2020 10:37 AM PST

Stars of the small screen were out in force for the National Television Awards, held at London's 02 Arena on Tuesday.

And Holly Willoughby brought the glamour to the star-studded ceremony as she joined the likes of Susanna Reid, Little Mix's Jesy Nelson, Maura Higgins and Molly-Mae Hague on the red carpet.

The This Morning presenter, 38, stunned in a pale pink satin ballgown, while Good Morning Britain host Susanna, 49, turned heads in a plunging ruby floor-length dress, which was adorned with thousands of tiny sequins.

Holly stole the show as she graced the red carpet in the strapless dress, which had a tailored pink pleated bodice and voluminous tulle skirt.

The television presenter, who earlier in the day reflected on her decade of different NTA looks, kept her accessories simple with just silver earrings so as to let her outfit take centre-stage.

Susanna, meanwhile, showcased her jaw-dropping cleavage in the figure-hugging dress, which cinched her in at the waist thanks to its silk belt.

Strutting down the red carpet in silver glittery heels, the presenter sparkled as she gave a broad smile for the cameras.

Wearing her brown hair in soft curls, Susanna sported a bronzed tan and striking red lip, which tied her whole outfit together.

Jesy Nelson, 28, who won the Factual category with her Odd One Out documentary on cyber-bullying, showed off her jaw-dropping cleavage in a tangerine bustier dress by Suzanne Neville.

The stunning bespoke gown in orange satin, had a fitted corset with halterneck detail and a skirt complete with a split and dramatic train.

The Little Mix singer hit the red carpet with her boyfriend of one year Chris Hughes, 27, who looked sharp in a three piece suit.

One of the biggest nights in the TV calendar, stars from a range of shows don their most glamorous looks to attend the lavish ceremony.

The most hotly contested category is Drama, which will see Killing Eve, Peaky Blinders, Line Of Duty, Call The Midwife and Casualty go head-to-head for the top prize.

Line Of Duty left viewers gripped in the spring when it returned with its fifth series, while Killing Eve has also been praised by fans despite the departure of showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Gentleman Jack - which was praised by viewers for Suranne Jones' performance as  the 19th Century lesbian Anne Lister - has been nominated for Best New Drama against Chernobyl, A Confession, Cleaning Up and The Capture.

Chernobyl has also been acclaimed as one of the greatest TV shows in history, and won big at the Golden Globes on Sunday by scooping Best Limited Series or TV Movie.

Many of these show's stars are also set to battle it out in Serial Drama Performance, which consists of Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Idris Elba (Luther), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack) and Michael Stevenson (Casualty).

Peaky Blinders has continued to be a huge success with its fifth series earning the show's highest ratings ever, and writer Stephen Knight has already confirmed that production is underway for series six.

Meanwhile Jodie has already won a slew of awards for her performance as the ruthless assassin Villanelle, and it remains to be seen whether she will add an NTA to her collection.

Ant made a triumphant return to screens in January 2019 alongside presenting partner Dec, after he took a hiatus in 2018 following his drink-drive arrest.

It seems the presenting duo are more beloved than ever as they have been nominated for TV Presenter for the 19th year in a row.

While the pair are inevitably tipped to win the prize, once again they will have stiff competition from Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Graham Norton and Bradley Walsh.

Among the shows Ant and Dec fronted in 2019 was Britain's Got Talent, which has also been nominated for Talent Show alongside Dancing On Ice, Strictly Come Dancing and The Voice UK.

Host David has also been nominated in the Best TV Judge category, and will battle it out with close pal Simon Cowell, as well as Sir Tom Jones (The Voice UK), will.i.am (The Voice UK/ The Voice Kids), and RuPaul (RuPaul's Drag Race UK).

In the comedy category, Phoebe Waller-Bridge's lauded comedy Fleabag will go up against Ricky Gervais' After Life, as well as Derry Girls, Sex Education, and former winner Mrs Brown's Boys.

Little Mix star Jesy Nelson was praised by fans and viewers for her documentary on the impact of cyber-bullying, and the BBC Three special has been nominated in the Factual category.

The special will compete against Ambulance, Gogglebox, Paul O'Grady: For The Love Of Dogs and Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.

In Serial Drama Performance, Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn has earned her first ever NTA nomination, following her emotional exit scenes in October when Sinead Tinker lost her battle with cancer.

She will compete against Danny Dyer (EastEnders), Danny Miller (Emmerdale) and Gregory Finnegan (Hollyoaks).

All of the cast members have featured prominently in hard-hitting storylines, as Danny Dyer's Mick Carter has seen his marriage in turmoil as his wife Linda's drinking problems continue to escalate.

Danny Miller's Aaron Dingle faced the tragedy of his husband Robert being jailed for life, after he attacked his sister Victoria's rapist Lee in violent scenes.

Meanwhile Gregory's James Nightingale was recently unmasked as one of the culprits in Mercedes McQueen's shooting, and he has struggled to hide the guilt around his involvement in the crime.

ASOS blasted by eagle-eyed shopper over See My Fit tool after spotting huge issue with it - Birmingham Live

A designer has moved to point out a 'huge problem' with ASOS's 'See My Fit' tool.

But she claims she has an answer.

Up and coming fashion brand Perfect Dress Company has hit out at ASOS for its new 'See My Fit' tool.

The firm has taken aim at the online shopping website, which is used by many Brummie fashion lovers, claiming its new feature is being unrepresentative.
