Justin Bieber is set to play a sell-out show at Mt Smart Stadium, with just a handful of tickets left to the Auckland show, according to TicketMaster.

Tickets went on sale at 2pm yesterday and were quickly snapped up by eager fans.

The pop superstar will play Mt Smart Stadium, which has a 46,000 person capacity, in March.

The Purpose World Tour will mark his first ever stadium show in New Zealand.

Bieber last touched down in New Zealand last year for a promotional tour, during which he performed a handful of acoustic shows and mocked Kiwi radio host PJ Harding.

His last concert here was for the Believe Tour in 2013, which took place in the much smaller Vector Arena and was met with mixed reactions, with some fans walking out amidst accusations of lip-syncing.

Since then, Bieber's undergone an image and sound overhaul, embracing a more R&B sound and teaming up with Kiwi hip hop choreographer Parris Goebel to help launch his album Purpose.

So now, he's playing a venue with an audience capacity of roughly 47,000 nearly four times the audience capacity of Vector which holds 12,000.

When a fan messaged Ticketmaster via their Facebook page to see what was causing them to be unable to nab tickets, the ticket outlet advised that there were only a few single seats and VIP tickets left.

It's hardly surprising there are still VIP tickets left, considering they're only for the hardcore Beliebers, priced at $525 and $625 - depending on how close you want to get to the star.

Bieber will play Mt Smart Stadium on March 18, 2017 and what few tickets are left are available at Ticketmaster.
