LOOK BOOK: River Island AW17

Sorry for the large post on this but, I am in love with this new collection from River Island.

I'm in a weird limbo with finding new clothes at the moment. I can finally afford to buy myself new clothes next month and I need to find 'grown up' clothing. I have recently entered office work and I'm struggling to find a balance between my previous work which was part time in so many different areas that allowed me to dress in my usual punk attire.

So now, I need to find more grown up styles! Not really sure where to go or what to get. However, there are a few options I've seen in quite a few of the look books from different look books.

This conflict seems to be taking place within the River Island girl. On the one hand, she seems to be looking for a (somewhat 80s) party in short skirts, metallic fabrics and YSL inspired figure hugging mini dresses but then she's going 90s office mom in chunky knits, white loose shirts and power color blocking.

I'm unsure which side I prefer if I am honest. We all love a good bad girl dress right?
So it seems I'm not alone in my quest to dress my outer 32 year old but nurse the wants of my inner 21 year old. However, I don't know where they are going with the 80s bad porno dominatrix look below. In fact, it reminds me of some form of weird high street take on 80's gay leather looks.
There are a few misses in the collection. I wish I could see more of this gorgeous knit piece underneath this horrible piece of blown up tin foil. I don't even mind the hat but there were a few of these horrible puffy jackets.
Stunning power color blocking. I love this. I want all of it.

This is also a massive triumph. I have about six oversized scarves (I have two) and I love each one equally. Apart from the one that Primark ripped off and I now see draped around the neck of fifty women every time I got to town.

I am not really sure where they were going with this one but it looks like a combination of D&G meets Chanel.
